A Brief, Beautiful Life

Daphne Jane Gainer, my bright-eyed beauty, returned to her Heavenly Father at 11:00 p.m. last night after undergoing a 7.5-hour open-heart surgery. I miss her desperately, and my heart feels heavy with grief. But I believe she is safe in the arms of loved ones on the other side, and her heart is whole now. She filled her earthly mission, and now she is with our Savior. Pray for our family. Right now, we need courage.

Daphne's Funeral Services
Funeral services for Daphne Jane Gainer will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the HH8 Ward chapel (2101 N Providence Dr., Saratoga Springs, UT 84045). A public viewing will be held before the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Following the service, Daphne will be interred at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092). All who wish to help us say goodbye to our sweet girl are welcome to attend.

  15. Dear Rachel, we don't know each other...I only know of you from being a fan of Simple Scrapbooks and seeing you in the magazine. I'm friends with Angie Lucas on Facebook and read her post about attending Daphne's funeral today. My heart is breaking for you. I have been reading your blog about your journey from the very beginning with your baby girl and I just felt compelled to tell you that I am so sorry for your loss. Your faith and courage are inspiring. Please know that you did a very special thing by adopting Daphne and caring for her and loving her during her time here on Earth. I hope that you will find peace and comfort in your special memories. Prayers to you and your family. Hugs...

  18. Will and Rachel, thank you so much for your sweet testimonies. You gave a beautiful tribute to Daphne yesterday. I am in awe of your strength and courage. I am so amazed at this bond that we can have with our children. It's an eternal bond that not only can last forever, but has lasted from the very beginning. I do believe that she was meant to be yours, and you were meant to help her and love her, even if for a brief moment here on earth. What a sweet reunion that is going to be!
Sending love and prayers your way,
    The Schmalz Family

  24. We do not know eachother. I found your blog in a very round about way. We are of a common sisterhood, I too am a Heart Mom. My son, Severin, is HRHS plus other things. He is almost nine months old now. My heart breaks everytime I learn of a sweet heart baby earning their wings. I know this could be my son at anytime. There is an amazing heart community in Utah called Intermountain Healing Hearts. Their web site is intermountainhealinghearts.org They have a special time at every event to honor the Heart Angels. There are too many, but also can offer a wonderful support. You are an amazing family. I truely believe the strongest hearts are given the broken hearts. My email and blog are: angeequ@hotmail.com and 4-everQuist.blogspot.com I pray the healing hands of our Savior will carry you at this time.
